The 5-step plan
At this level of Adding Fractions, you get exercises with equivalent fractions smaller than 1. If the fractions are equivalent, you only have to add the numerators (the top numbers of the fractions). Afterwards, you do need to check whether you can simplify.Step 1 - Addition, but don't forget to simplify

Description Adding Fractions 1
Example sum 1: 15 + 25First we check whether the denominators are the same. They're the equivalent, namely 5.
For addition with fractions, only the numerators need to be added. 1 + 2 = 3
15 + 25 = 35 Can we simplify? No. The answer remains 35.
Example sum 2:16 + 16
First we check whether the denominators are the same. They're equivalent, namely 6.
Now you only have to add the numerators. 1 + 1 = 2
16 + 16 = 26 Can the fraction be simplified? Yes, it can. 26 = 13. The answer is 16 + 16 = 13
